SayKhmer Tours

Offering a unique experience to visitors of Siem Reap, combining exploring the surroundings with learning the language. On our tours you will visit the picturesque Cambodian countryside, lesser visited sites and places where the locals go. During the tours, we offer the opportunity to learn and practice some fun basics of the Khmer language, guided all the while by our friendly guides.

Phnom Bok Tour

On this tour we visit Phnom Bok Mountain, 25 km from Siem Reap. Phnom Bok sees very few tourists and involves a ride through the lush Cambodian countryside. Reaching the top of the mountain involves a steep but perfectly manageable climb up the steps through the forest. It takes around 30 minutes and whilst its by no means ‘serious’ climbing, you need to be reasonably fit. Once at the top, the views are spectacular. You will be guided around an ancient ruined temple with Frangipani trees growing out of it. We’ll relax and practice some Khmer language before heading back down.

On our return journey we’ll drive through picturesque countryside passing traditional villages and Cambodian daily life along the way. Finally we’ll visit a street market where the locals go to have fun. There will be plenty of opportunities to practice the language with the ever helpful guidance of our native Khmer guide.

Times: 1.30pm-7pm Complimentary pick-up/drop off from your hotel/guesthouse included. Prices: 3 or more people $28.00 /  2 people $35.00 / 1 person $70.00 / All prices per person.

Review

Had a great day with ‘Say Khmer’ today. A fun tuk-tuk ride out of Siem Reap to Phnom Bok through some beautiful county- water buffalo, rice harvests, boys fishing and then up some steps to the peak to find a ruined temple with NO-ONE else there but us. (I tell a lie. A local dog decided to tag along with us- soooo cute!!) A Khmer lesson joined by a friendly policeman guarding the site, and spectacular views stretching out to infinity. It was a bit of a climb, but well worth if! Thank goodness for the chilled coconut at the foot of the mountain on our way back though. Very friendly locals to practice our Khmer with, and a fabulous trip home through traditional villages, with a stop off at 60 Road for bamboo rice. Yep, a great day. Thanks for a unique and very special experience. Jude from Brisbane, Australia. Ps. Where are we going next?

We’ll also visit a hidden away Buddhist temple and finally a street market/fairground where locals go to have fun. There will be plenty of opportunities to practice the language with the ever helpful guidance of our teacher.
